Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has quietly shifted a significant chunk of its investment focus toward artificial intelligence. According to the latest filings, a staggering 37.4% of the conglomerate's $330 billion equity portfolio is now concentrated in just three AI-driven companies. While Buffett has historically been cautious about tech hype, his team appears to be betting big on the sector's long-term potential.
The three stocks in question are Apple, Amazon, and a smaller but rapidly growing position in a company that recently caught Berkshire's eye. In a surprising move, Berkshire more than tripled its stake in one of these holdings during the last quarter, signaling a strong vote of confidence. Apple remains the heavyweight, accounting for the lion's share of the portfolio, but the increased allocation to the third name suggests Berkshire sees value beyond the usual consumer tech giants.
This concentration is unusual for Berkshire, which typically spreads its bets across insurance, railroads, and utilities. The shift reflects a broader market reality: AI is no longer a niche play but a core driver of earnings for major corporations. Whether this bet pays off depends on how quickly these companies can monetize their AI investments. For now, Berkshire is all in, with over a third of its firepower riding on three names.
