Arista Networks vs. Arm: Comparing Revenue Growth Trajectories for These Artificial Intelligence Companies

When it comes to cashing in on the artificial intelligence boom, not every chipmaker or networking firm is riding the same wave. Arista Networks has now posted eight consecutive quarters of revenue growth, a steady climb that stands in sharp contrast to the choppy ride at Arm Holdings, which has dealt with both market swings and federal scrutiny.

Arista, known for its high-speed data center switches, has become a quiet favorite among cloud giants and AI clusters. Its latest quarterly report showed revenue up roughly 20 percent year over year, driven by demand for 400-gigabit and 800-gigabit Ethernet gear. The company's ability to land large orders from hyperscalers has given it a predictable pipeline, and management has repeatedly raised its outlook without missing a beat.

Arm, on the other hand, licenses chip architectures used in nearly every smartphone and increasingly in AI servers. Its revenue growth has been real but uneven, with licensing fees bouncing around quarter to quarter. The company also faced an overhang from a federal antitrust review of its business practices, which unsettled some investors even though no formal charges were filed. While Arm's royalty stream from AI-enabled devices is expanding, its earnings have been more sensitive to one-off deals and currency shifts.

The bigger picture is that both companies benefit from the same secular trend: more compute, more networking, more power for AI workloads. But Arista's execution has been smoother, with consistent margin expansion and no major regulatory headaches. Arm's story is more about long-term optionality, especially as custom silicon designs gain traction. For now, the market seems to reward Arista's reliability, while Arm trades at a premium based on future promise rather than current momentum.
