Fairway Home Mortgage has announced the creation of Fairway SAFE, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting older adults from financial exploitation. The initiative aims to educate both seniors and the professionals who work with them, helping to identify and prevent common scams that target the elderly.
The nonprofit will provide training materials, workshops, and resources designed to raise awareness about financial fraud schemes such as reverse mortgage scams, phishing attempts, and unauthorized home equity loans. Fairway SAFE will also work with real estate agents, financial advisors, and legal professionals to spot warning signs early.
According to industry data, older Americans lose billions of dollars each year to financial fraud, with many cases going unreported due to embarrassment or confusion. The program seeks to close that gap by offering clear, accessible information in community settings and through online platforms.
Fairway SAFE plans to partner with local senior centers, banks, and law enforcement agencies to expand its reach. The nonprofit will operate independently from Fairway Home Mortgage, though the company is providing initial funding and administrative support. Organizers say the goal is simple: give seniors the tools they need to recognize a scam before they lose their savings.
