University of Scranton FBLA students win four state championships

Students from the University of Scranton took home four state titles and earned top-ten finishes in sixteen different categories at the recent Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. The event was held in Harrisburg back in March, bringing together college chapters from across Pennsylvania to test their skills in everything from financial analysis to public speaking.

Among the standout performers was Gary Mrozinski, a finance major who led the charge with a first-place finish in his category. The university's team showed particular strength in the accounting and economics divisions, where they swept several of the top spots. Other winners included students specializing in management information systems and business law, proving the program's depth across multiple disciplines.

The four state championships qualify these students for the national competition, which will take place later this summer in Orlando. The University of Scranton chapter has a strong history at the national level, with several members advancing to final rounds in previous years. Faculty advisors credited the students' rigorous preparation and the school's emphasis on practical business skills for the strong showing.

In addition to the individual wins, the team as a whole placed in the top ten in twelve other events, including spreadsheet applications, business ethics, and entrepreneurial concepts. That level of consistency put the Scranton chapter among the top three overall programs in the state for the third consecutive year. The students will now shift their focus to refining their presentations and case study approaches ahead of the national event.
