Visa and Airwallex Team on Embedded Finance for Freight Companies

Visa and Airwallex have announced a new collaboration aimed at delivering embedded finance tools for freight and shipping companies. The partnership, unveiled on Thursday, is designed to help logistics platforms integrate payment and financial services directly into their existing workflows.

Under the arrangement, Airwallex will combine its global payment infrastructure with Visa's commercial payment capabilities. This will allow freight companies to offer features like real-time payments, multi-currency accounts, and expense management without needing to build those systems themselves. The goal is to streamline the often complex process of moving money across borders in the shipping industry, where carriers, brokers, and suppliers frequently operate in different currencies.

The initiative targets a sector that has traditionally relied on slow, manual payment methods. By embedding financial services into the software that freight companies already use, the two firms hope to reduce friction in the supply chain. For example, a logistics platform could automatically pay a trucking carrier in their local currency as soon as a delivery is confirmed.

Visa and Airwallex see this as a way to modernize a critical part of global trade. As e-commerce and cross-border shipping continue to grow, the demand for faster, more transparent payment options is increasing. The partnership aims to meet that need by turning financial transactions into a seamless part of the shipping experience.
